About Us

Our Mission

Brave fACEs is committed to building a strong foundation for Adverse Child Experiences (ACEs) prevention in Lincoln and Lancaster County by making resources and community training easier to access. We help local groups, educators, healthcare providers, and families identify ACEs early and give the right support to those who have adverse experiences.

Initially founded with the Community Health Endowment (CHE), Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), and BraveBe, Brave fACEs and our partners are building a future where kids grow up in a community that understands and works to prevent trauma. To help guide this effort, Brave fACEs established an Advisory Board made up of community members with firsthand experience working with those who are affected by ACEs. This is a community-driven initiative, shaped by those who know the impact of trauma and are committed to creating lasting change.

Our Objectives

Brave fACEs is guided by a five-pillar strategic plan:

1. Call to Action Campaign:
Educate the public on the effects of ACEs and advocate for community-wide ACEs awareness.

2. ACEs Training Plan:

Provide training that emphasizes ACEs education, collaboration, resilience-building, and prevention, aiming to equip individuals and organizations with the knowledge and tools needed to recognize trauma, respond effectively, and support healing

3. ACEs Data Collection:
Collect basic ACEs data in Lancaster County to see what Lincolnites know about Adverse Childhood Experiences, how common they are, and how many places are using trauma-informed practices. We’ll compare this data to national trends to help guide local health priorities.

4. Community Response:
Help organizations screen for ACEs, encourage early action, and build a strong referral network so providers can respond to ACE signs. Offer technical support when needed.

5. Community Response:
Help organizations screen for ACEs, encourage early action, and build a strong referral network so providers can respond to ACE signs. Offer technical support when needed.

Our Impact

Brave fACEs aims to create a community that is aware of ACEs and equipped to support those impacted by them. By raising awareness, building partnerships, and offering training and resources, we intend to prevent ACEs, reduce their long-term effects, and help people develop resilience.

Our goal is to foster a community where trauma is understood, stigma is reduced, and trauma-informed practices are the norm.
